The 50’s have slowly been reviving and this year, retro is hot!

What’s it going be? Ladylike and elegant as Grace Kelly or, glamorous and sensual as Marilyn Monroe? Either way, there’s no wrong answer.

As a personal lover of 50's fashion, this blog post was extra special to me.
Today I will be giving you some hints and tricks into the secret styles of the 50's.

So let's get started!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Review

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter
"Coat your lips in Butter – without risk to your waistline "

G'day readers!

Ok I admit it...Recently, I decided to go with the trend and try three of the popular Revlon Lip Butters. As many of you probably already know, they're not your usual lipsticks. What sets them apart from regular lipstick is that they're balm-like and moisturising, while still having bold colour. Plus, there's a colour for everyone, with shades from neutrals to bold.

Here in Australia, the price of the Revlon Lip Butters are around $20 AUS each. $60 for three lipsticks - a bit pricey to be honest. But nevertheless, it is a unique product I was willing to try out.

Easy-Peasy Halloween Makeup Ideas!

Hey girls!

It's that spooky time of year again...HALLOWEEN IS HERE!
In Australia, Halloween  is not as widely celebrated as in other parts of the globe, eg. the good old USA.
But, I myself am a huge fan of Halloween (and 'Trick-or-Treaters' for that matter).

So lets get into some of my personal tips for creating a sexy makeup look to go with every spooky costume you may choose...

NOTD (China Glaze) - 27th October 2012

Hey readers,

Today I have a short 'Nails Of The Day' post for you.

Spring would probably have to be my favourite season (...well apart from the hay fever), especially the Spring trends which rock the nation!
This year, as you most likely already know, neon and pastel shades are the seasonal trend. Luckily for me, I love both bright colours and subtle shades.

eos Lip Balm Haul/Review

G'day girlies...
Happy Wednesday!

Today I have a short, yet special, eos (Evolution Of Smooth) lip balm haul for you.

*Notice - I was not paid for this haul/review. The opinions I express are purely my own.

SOURCE

In Australia, It is quite hard to get your hands on any eos product. Until I discovered 'Special_Spice' on Ebay.
Each cute little sphere lip balm retails for only $4.85 AU (+$3.95 AU postage). Which is fantastic in opinion.

I don't know about you, but I think these lip products are the cutest things I've ever seen! They are like little balls of fun...(hmmm did that sound odd?) ;)

The flavours I received were as followed:

  • Strawberry Sorbet (light pink) *In October during Breast Cancer Awareness month the company EOS donated 5% of their retail proceeds from the sale of Strawberry Sorbet to the cause. *
  • Honeysuckle Honeydew (light green)
  • Sweet Mint (minty blue/green)

Directions: Twist off top. Pucker up. Smooth on. Smile.

Out of the three, my personal favourite would have to be
Honeysuckle Honeydew. The scent/taste of this on my lips is amazing.

My least favourite would have to be Strawberry Sorbet. Not because it has an odd scent/taste, just because the scent is the least appealing to my personal preferences.
Sweet Mint is simply refreshing and light, but not my favourite.

According to my research, eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.

These lip balms leave your lips feeling super lucious and kissable....you know you like that! Plus, for a mere $4.85, how could you possibly resist! ;)

Have you ever tried any of the eos products? If so, what is your favourite?

Spring Racing Beauty 101

Hey girls,

It's that time of year again...Spring racing is here!
Therefore, its time to introduce some of my best beauty tips (do's & dont's) to looking your best this racing season. Whether you're partying at the races, or screaming at the TV in the comfort of your own home.

SOURCE
So....lets get started!

Do's
  1. Protect your skin - The best way to stay protected from the harshness of the sun, plus, get that 'glowing effect' to your skin, is to wear a moisturiser with SPF 30+. This way, your skin won't become burnt and flaky, ugh.
  2.  Pucker up princess - It's all about pout this season. So why not get in on the latest trend, and wow everyone with luscious lips. Why not try a bright hue, such as a fancy fuchsia or a pop of cherry red. Compliment this with a gorgeous frock and you'll be on your way to stardom!
  3. The eye's have it! - Opt for dramatic lashes or a smokey swipe of eyeliner, not both. The trick is not to look too overdone. A bright lip and over dramatic eyes may be a tad too much. For eye makeup that lasts, remove oil from your eyelids with blotting paper or a cleanser before applying eyeshadow. Plus, avoid using moisturiser near your eye-lids.
Dont's
  1. No Oompa Loompas allowed! - Whatever you do, make sure you don't apply too much spray tan. There is nothing worse than looking as if you've just been attacked by someone out of Jersey Shore. Go for a more subtle, glowing look. A great option is to use a body moisturiser with built-in bronzing ingredients.
  2. Christmas is near...but not that close - Avoid wearing too many accessories. There is nothing worse than looking like a Christmas tree. Stick to a statement necklace, dainty earrings and possibly a bracelet/bangle for the overall look.
  3. Don' t leave your nails bare - Pamper yourself to a manicure the night before the big day! Try either a pop of colour (matching your dress) or a simple french manicure. These two can never go wrong.

My Mum & I at the races 2011

Are you all excited for the big day of racing here in Australia? I sure am!

NYX 'Box Of Smokey Look Collection' review

Hi girlies,
Oh how I love Saturdays!

Today I have a fabulous review for you...nothing better than......a NYX review!

Recently I was lucky enough to be given an amazing product from NYX,  the 'Box Of Smokey Look Collection.'
I have had my eye on NYX for a while now, so was ecstatic when I received this in the post.

NYX Cosmetics was named after the Greek goddess who ruled the night, just like many of our fans who rule the night life in this modern techno-savvy world. We offer a wide variety of products ranging from eye shadows to foundation and brushes to eye lashes and glitter to glosses. Everything a professional makeup artist needs for the job or that a goddess needs to create her look for a night on the town.

If you’re addicted to smokey eyes, this kit is custom-made for you. It contains a palette of pigmented eye shadowsto create gray smokey eyes, purple smokey eyes, bronze smokey eyes andnatural smokey eyes. Kit also contains 3 blushes, face powders, concealers, lip colors, 12 glitter creams and 1 black eye liner.

The kit contains:

(Eyeshadows)

  • Classic Smokey (Fierce and ready to party!)
  • Purple Smokey (A pop of colour)
  • Bronze Smokey (Get your goddess on!)
  • Natural Smokey (Beautifully neutral shades)
  • Also: Sparkly glitters
(Cheeks)
  • Pale pink blush
  • Coral blush
  • Mauve/pink blush
  • Bronzer
  • Highlight
  • Contour
(Lips)
  • A broad range, from subtle corals' to bright purples'
(Concealer)
  • Green
  • Purple
  • Cream
  • Brown

The pigmentation of most of the eyeshadows are pleasing. The coverage of the lip glosses are  also decent. Plus, the cheek products are fantastic, very pigmented indeed!
I wish I could say the same about the glitters though. After applying the glitters once or twice, it revealed a creamy layer underneath. Leaving little-to-no sparkles left :(
Before I forget to mention, The kit also includes a black pencil eyeliner and a basic eyeshadow applicator. Which was sneakily tucked away within the package.

Overall, the quality of this kit is great. In my opinion, It would be perfect for travelling.

The kit retails for only $20 (AUD)...what a steal!  According to my research, you can purchase this collection online, or at most drugstores in the USA.

So what do you think? What is your favourite NYX product?

That's all for today.
Have a great weekend!

OPI 'Vintage Minnie Minis' review

Hey readers!

Today I received another special little package in my mailbox. Nothing better than...OPI nail polishes! (A big thank you to 'Shopin Online hair & Beauty' for sending this collection to me.)

OPI Vintage Minnie Mini Collection is a gorgeous collection of colours inspired by Disney character, Minnie Mouse.

The set contains three gorgeous shades from the 'Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection', also, OPI’s best-selling Rapi Dry Top Coat. All four polishes come in a miniature size of 3.75 ml each, how cute! This pack contains all the shades you need this summer, (or any time of year for that matter).

Upon my research, OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection is a collection of limited edition nail lacquers created in honour of Disney’s beloved character. The feminine shades encapsulate Minnie Mouse’s irresistible charm in playful, pretty shades of pink and red.

The collection contains:

The Color Of Minnie (3.75ml)

 A stunning frosted red polish.

If You Moust You Moust (3.75ml)

 A classic pink crème polish.

I’m All Ears (3.75ml)

A deep magenta polish with a shimmer finish.

Rapi Dry Top Coat (3.75ml)

A fast drying, non-yellowing, high gloss top coat that will help prevent nails from smudging and streaking.

Top left = The Color Of Minnie
Top right = If You Moust You Moust
Bottom left = I'm All Ears
Bottom right = Rapid Dry Top Coat

Out of all the shades, my personal favourite would have to be 'If You Moust You Moust'. Simply on the basis that it was the easiest to apply, no streaking, gorgoeus colour and great pigmentation. All of the other shades were also beautiful, and the 'Rapid Dry Top Coat' sure did dry rapidly!

All of the colours dried beautiful and shiny. The swatches above resemble two-three coats of polish, exept the 'Rapid Dry Top Coat'...which was obviously just one coat.

This beautiful pack retails for $17.99, which is a steal in my opinion!

I hope you enjoyed my 'Minnie' review ;)
Stay tuned for more product reviews later in the week!

Have you tried any of OPI's mini packs before? If so, what collection is your favourite?
